Since the new update 5.0.1 came out my iPad keeps crashing...by that I mean it shuts off whatever I am doing (i.e. Safari or different game apps)...anyone else having similar issues?

I use 5.1.1 it's working great no problems so far on iPad new
I have the problem on an iPad 2 and the latest software. :-(
Everything worked fine until (a) latest update and (b) using iCloud to sync contacts. I think iCloud pushed the memory issue over the top. Trying to get the iPad 2 back to a working unit and giving up on iCloud for now to see if I can get it to work...

Well, it's many months after the original post, and I'm on an iPad 1 with iOS 5.1.1 and I'm here because my iTunes crashes to the home screen every time I try to use it for 30 seconds. Cant buy anything using my iPad. Im about ready to give this thing away and just go back to iPod and PC iTunes for music, and get a Windows 8 tablet device next.
Well APPLE CONGRADULATIONS FOR NOTHING!!! Here It is a year and four months after the original post.
My Ipad two isnt a year old and running OS 6.1 and the thing crashes 200 times a day. This is the biggest waste of money i ever spent. I feel sorry for all the people out there that spent money for nothing, Thanks Apple. They wont even help me unless I pay them more money for support. HA what a joke. I have rebooted...blah blah blah...I even restored to factory settings and it didnt help a bit.
