You are replying to a post that is over a year old, I doubt mdurwin is even here any more.

I use Print n Share Pro for this exact situation and it works perfectly. It is all wireless even though my printer is USB. Also if you have a windows machine printopia is useless, so Print n Share Pro is the only way forward Here is a link http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/print-n-share-pro/id471352087?mt=8
first, you could try to power-cycle ur printer (turn it on and off) while its connected to the airport express
next, click update in your airport utility app for your airport express (on your computer)
then, try to print from your ipad
it might just be a problem with ur ipad wifi connection not being strong enough - try standing/sitting closer to your express. hope this helps.
🙂
That's a load of crap. I have Canon Pro9000. I can send a webpage from my Mac Air over my wireless network via Airport through my Time Capsule to the printer and it works fine.
So, explain to me again how it only works for airprint enabled printers?

Mac Airs don't run IOS, so they don't use Air Print.
Exactly my point: it's not a problem of not having the right printer, it's a matter of iOS not allowing it because Air Print is blocking it, probably because of a deal with HP.
But, I've solved the problem so now I can print from my iMac, my Mac Air, my iPhone and my iPad. No thanks to the folks at Apple who purposely blocked that functionality.

Can you print from your iPad directly to the printer without involving an intervening computer, yes or no.
My Mac Air will not print without Time Capsule in the middle.
My iPad and iPhone will not print without Time Capsule and my iMac in the middle.
It's not a matter of being able to print straight from my iPhone to a printer with nothing in the middle, it's a matter of being able to print the same way with all of my mobile devices. My iPhone and iPad should be able to print as easily as my laptop does through Time Capsule. Luckily I now have the probem solved and all of my devices can print.
Of course I'm still here.
I was finally able to get printing working. Then it suddenly stopped. I blame iOS updates.I had two iPhones and mi Gen 1 iPad printing wirelessley fine. I couldn't get my MacAir to work though, that had to be plugged in physically.
I have a pending move at which time I'll set everything back up and this time I'll document it to post here.
No, It can't. Airprint only works with airprint enabled printers.
Printopia may be able to do what you want. Might be worth a look.
