Can someone recommend a good multi-function scanner/printer/copier that works with Mac OS 10.6.8?

I've just purchased a Canon Image Class MF4570dn. Very disappointed to find that whatever I do I cannot get the scanner to work & the Apple support board is of no help.

It seems like there is a conflict with OS 10.6.8 that does not let the scanner get recognized by any scanning software -- either the Mac native software in Preview or the Canon software included on CD with the box & via download from Canon's site. The Canon software is called "MF Toolbox" but for the life of me I can't get it to start without instantly crashing!

Any suggestions of set-ups that are working with you on a similar system set-up would be much appreciated!

Log into your printer's remote user interface, say 192.168.0.40. Then, go into:

1) Settings/Registration

2) System Settings

3) Edit

4) USB Device Settings

5) Remove the checkmark under use "USB Device" (Use USB Device )

6) Click on OK

7) Turn off then turn on your printer.

Not all Canons are bad. The Canon Pixma MX700 actually has drivers going back to PowerPC days and 10.4.

I have this printer too, it is my 2nd Canon ImageClass printer, the first being the ImageClass MF4100 which was not networkable. They operate much the same way, and yes, scanning is totally possible... I have scanned hundreds of documents to them, but I don't believe either can scan over the network.

I have been getting the same error that ahbrobot initially quoted just recently and find now that there is a new driver (for OS X 10.7 anyway, which is what I have) as of August 29, 2014. I hope this helps someone out there.
