Netflix Error 117

I haven't been able to log onto Netflix for almost a week now. Keep getting: "Unable to sign in. The account name or password is incorrect. Please try again. (117). Netflix runs fine on other computers, just suddenly not on Apple TV. Otherwise Apple TV is working fine, with iTunes, You Tube, etc. Netflix claims it's an Apple issue. Apple won't discuss without a service contract. I know others have this problem from researching. Tried changing passwords, DNS, restoring, resetting, unplugging, etc. Anyone have a suggestion?

Just went online to netflix and changed my password to 12345 and it works! How annoying!

Nothing worked for me until I used the Apple remote to enter the password. I had been using my iPod Touch with the Remote app, but that didn't work. The remote that came with the Apple TV worked the first time I tried.

Grrrr now everyone's password is 12345.

Neither Apple or Netflix wants to even acknowledge the issue. What a shame. Taking responsibility or not as long as they fix it...it's all cool.

For anyone who is having the same problems. Here's the solutions

1. Log into Netflix and change your netflix password to 12345

2. Log into ATV with 12345

That's it. Simple as that.

We had the same problem, error 117, so instead of calling Netflix and Apple support we followed what was posted here. I went and changed our password on Netflix first and added two letters and numbers to it, and then logged in to Netflix via apple TV and it worked!! we first tried 12345 and that didn't work so it is basically resetting your password that worked for us. Also logged in on my iPad simultaneously and it works too! Happy again. Hope everyone else tries this again enforce giving up

You can also just change your password not necessarily 12345 to protect your account. Our password is now two letters and six numbers long, worked for us.

Hey! i tried to change the password to 12345 and bingo! weird isn't it. now i must find a way to change my password cause everybodys gonna be using 12345!

I had the same problem with my netflix. It worked on my WII, IPad & I Phones but would not work on my apple tv. The invalid user name or password error 117 popped up. I tried resetting my password with netflix and I could not log in, I tried 12345 and still could not log in. Here's how I got logged on - I hope it works for you 🙂

log on to your account at netflix.com update your password with netflix to 12345 & you should be able to sign on to netflix using the Apple TV.
