I was wondering where the iDVD themes are posted because I would like to edit/delete out a few to save space (if nessisary) and I am curious as to how they are stored. Finally if I deleted a few themes, would it be possible to reinstall them from the CD without reinstalling ilife?
Powerbook 15in G4,
Mac OS X (10.4.3),
1.5 DDR, 128 VRAM, 100 gig Hardrive
This location is for temp files associated with the iDVD 3, 4, and 5 themes. If you make any edits or changes to those Themes (in the first location) make sure you delete the appropriate folder in this location before launching iDVD. These files will simply be written again when iDVD is launched. If you are editing iDVD 6 Themes then this location doesn't need to be manipulated.
You can't install Themes by themselves but you can re-install iDVD 6 by itself from the iLife installer.
This might be too late a reply...
(All of the said below is for iDVD 5 and 10.4.7)
If you want to modify a given theme, say iDVD's "Theatre theme" because you want to keep the theatre curtain open, go into the iDVD 's resources folder and dig further into the resources folder of that particular theme.
1. Keep a copy of the original theme, e.g. "000_Theater.theme"
2. Copy the background movie (BackgroundMovie.NTSC.mov ) in "000_Theater.theme" to your desktop, cut that movie with Quicktime (or any other editor), and then write it back to "000_Theater.theme"s resources folder.
3. when I duplicated the theme, modified the duplicate and renamed it "101_MyTheatre.theme" iDVD showed two "Theatre" themes in the Customize /Themes menu but the background movie was the same
original movie for both the original and modified theme.
