iTunes freezes on Sign In to iTunes Store - Windows 7 64 bit

In the last 48 hours I have not been able to use my iTunes software as it hangs immediately after launching.

I have tried a number of options to rectify the problem including Repairing the iTunes installation, Uninstalling/Reinstalling the program and System Restore to name a few. After some hours of searching I have established (after reading support.apple.com/kb/ts1717) that when I remove the Roaming Preference Files I am able to run iTunes however at this point it no longer automatically signs into the iTunes store. The problem arises as soon as I enter my user id and password the program becomes unresponsive.

I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions anyone could provide to help rectify the problem.

Thanks

Windows 7

I have a very similar problem but I am running Windows Vista 32 bit. ITunes completely freezes. I also noticed this the first time I bought something from my PC after downloading the latest update 10.5.2.11.

I have narrowed the issue to a problem with accessing the iTunes Store using my specific appleid. I don't have any problems if I use iTunes without logging in. Unfortunately, I am unwilling to create a new AppleID given there is now way of consolidating the accounts. Also, I have some material that I've bought and not downloaded yet.

iCloud is not enabled.

Help desperately needed. Will also try to log a job somehow...

Same problem.

Latest version of iTunes (10.5.2.11) and iCloud 1.0.2.17 installed. Only installed iCloud on the latest update.

iTunes frequently froze, so I deleted my roaming profile (having read of others having success by doing this).

iTunes now launches fine, downloads subscribed podcasts etc, I can access the iTunes store, but as soon as I try to log in using my apple id then itunes freezes and must be closed using task manager.

I'm using Windows 7 32bit.

I just tried launching the iCloud control panel and it froze up too. Uninstalling iCloud didn't seem to fix the problem.

I can buy apps etc through my ipad and iphone, so maybe I can use itunes without logging into the store, but frankly I wish I could ditch itunes as the interface for my iphone/ipad.

I had this problem too! I also run on Windows 7. I finally found that when I deleted the Mobile Device Application Support program from Apple, that is downloaded when you download Itunes and the rest of the applications (which I don't use anyway), that my Itunes all freed up. I had already tried deleting and reinstalling all of Itunes etc. and to no avail. So I tried application by application...Safari etc. and then would reinstall everything. Then when I got to the Mobile Device App it worked and has stayed working ever since.

Hope it works for you!!

Try this :

"Renaming the APSDaemon.exe file, to prevent it from running at boot and iTunes start fixed my iTunes for now and lets me be logged in to my account again, finally. Location of APSDaemon was COMMONFILES%/Apple/Apple Application Support/APSDaemon.exe for me, however you may want to just open task manager and open location on APSDaemon, kill the process, and then rename."

Worked a treat for me, after trying everything else I could find on the Internet.

Found it in a post here:
