iphone 4 will not connect to hotmail

The same thing happened to me, I have been fighting it for days! So frustrating! Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so after like trying 10 times to delete and re-add my hotmail thru the hotmail button under Mail, it finally worked late last night! I then deleted the other hotmail acct that didn't contain the folders 🙂

M33R4! you're a genius!!!!! I tried so many other things, and because when I click on my hotmail account under settings, the outgoing mail server doesn't show up, I couldn't have changed it. Therefore, after everything I tried, this is the only thing that worked, and it worked flawlessly!!! thank you sooo much. I have been frusterated with this problem for days!

im having the same issue, wont verify server cannot send or recieve email on my hotmail at all, only my gmail works. any luck? tried deleting etc all to no avail, succeeded in deleting in all my contacts though.

help much appreciated.

I have an iphone 4S. I was able to delete my hotmail account and create a new one under OTHER. This actually worked for me. Good luck!

My husband did this same thing to my phone last night & managed to bring my emails back to my phone, however, they're not syncing with my actual hotmail account. When I check my hotmail on my computer, the emails I just deleted on my phone are still there & vice versa when I delete them from my computer. Also my calendar has been wiped clean on my phone. My hotmail calendar still has all the appointments in it, but I can't access them from my phone. And when I add an appointment on my phone it of course doesn't add it in my hotmail calendar. Any suggestions??

hotmail has been on disruption list second day. Next time use that site, will save you some time.

@jmeha2z -- I had the same issues, eventually I kept deleting and re-applying my real hotmail acct, through the app and it finally worked. Then, I deleted the one that I added manually since I was having these same issues. Try a few times and eventually I think it will work.

checked my calendar just a while ago & suddenly all is fixed! I swear I did NOTHING! My calendar is suddenly 'reading' my hotmail account & fetching my hotmail calendars 🙂...one happy girl right here! And, once I deleted my duplicate hotmail account (yes, I had hotmail in the official Hotmail account AND the other account- only since all this frustration has been going on!) & now only have it in the official Hotmail account, my email seems to be pushing as it should be! Here's hoping!

The issue of deleting emails from the hotmail account on your mobile handset but those emails remain on the server is something I have not been able to figure out - I put this down to Hotmail behaviour itself and not down to anything you are doing wrong on your phone. Gmail works fine in that respect in that it allows deletion of email from the mobile handset and this is mirrored on the gmail server with no problems. Blame Hotmail for that issue I guess.

As for the calendar - try going into:

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Calendars > Sync (choose All Events)

I can see this was asked a while ago, but because I had this same issue with my newest IPhone and i figured out my problem, I figured id share it seeing how this is the forum I found when trying to solve the same issue. I wasnt considering hotmail as outlook when I was chosing which type of mail. As soon as I put it together, i deleted my hotmail account, reenter the info seleting the outlook option and it worked!
