I saved version 2.1.3 in the Applications folder just in case.
v2.2 has loaded twice, the twenty other times I've tried to start it, it hangs... 32-bit or 64-bit doesn't matter.
v9.1.6 of Logic Pro is not having a problem with my setup
strangely, neither is v2.1.3 of MainStage.
I've trashed the prefs, checked the setup in Audio/MIDI setup... all the usual stuff.
Anybody else seeing this?
I found the problem.
When I ran MIDI monitor, I saw that the Yamaha KX8 was putting out MIDI clock. So I shut the KX8 clock off. Mainstage now works.
KX8 still does active sensing, but it appears to be OK with Mainstage, and Mainstage seems to be operating well now. The MTP AV is not a problem.
worked for me TOO (on the 2nd try).
Motif ES8 also was sending clock. Okay... here's the thing... one of my test cases was with the Motif ES8 clearly *off*...
but... MS 2.2 is running!
now to dive into the manual as to why this is a problem as of this version.
