Samsung SC-D353 w/ Mac OS 10.4.4

I can't get this camera to function properly with my Powerbook G4. I've tried going to the samsung website to look for a driver that I could download because the software in the box is only compatible with Windows OS's. I just want to be able to import the movies somehow (into iPhoto or just drag and drop into a folder via Finder); however, when I tried to open the movie up that I shot from the camera, Quicktime displayed a message saying that a certain component is needed. WHAT COMPONENT!>!?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Hi Jared,

you have connected your camera via FIREWIRE not by the included usb cable? iMovie doesn't support the later..... get any 4/6pin fw cable for few$ at any electronic supplier.... and: a Mac doesn't need "drivers", only younger, immature Operating Systems need such ;-)))) (I know, in technical terms this rant is wrong, but I can't resist.......)

you try to "download" the content on tape, not any stills on any chip/memorystick/whatever? iM is meant to work with miniDV video only - in that case, miniDV means also a compression standard.... any "mpeg video" has to be imported via the app "image capture" and has to be converted with additional tools....

After perusing this forum once again, I returned to my basement, dug up the firewire cable that connected from the camera (4 pin) to my powerbook (6 pin), I then set the camera to player mode and opened up iMovie, tried hitting play on the camcorder and other things, but nothing would come up in iMovie. The familiar looking blue screen of death did visit, however, it bore a message saying something along he lines of no camera connected, it then gave me a link to Help Viewer which gave me some tips such as make sure everything's connected, etc. But I tried using firewire and it still didn't work, I've even called the 1-800 # for samsung, but they weren't very helpful....

I apologize that I started this thread. It turns out that after I went and simply bought another 4pin to 6pin firewire cable from RadioShack, everything worked just perfectly. I should have determined that my cable was faulty in the first place before hassling anyone else. Nevertheless, you all were very helpful, and I thank you for your time.
