My husband's iPhone kept getting the message "Cannot Connect to iTunes" every time he attempted to purchase an app on the phone. I spent countless hours working on it, took it to an Apple store for help, emailed Apple, etc., to no avail. My iPhone worked fine. I finally discovered that when I set up his iTunes account on his computer I neglected to fill in the credit card code number in the payment area. After I filled it in, it's been working perfectly. Check your account information and make sure everything has been filled in.

Herb

just to let you know, i still have been to resolve this issue. Apple have told me that it is more than likely my mobile broadband internet via a usb modem stick. they are saying that the internet speed must be fast enough for itunes to be able to connect. my thoughts are that Apple are just shifting the blame. i doubt it very much. im getting speeds of around 150kb to 200kb. are you on mobile broadband. it will be interesting to know.

Problem solved.

I had the same issue and it drove me nuts. After trying without success for hours, I went into my settings on my phone, clicked on "store", clicked on my username, and then logged out. Then I rebooted my phone, although I don't know if it was a necessary step, and then went back to settings and logged back in. That seemed to solve the problem.

I've had this problem for some time now on an iPad 2. I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but its worth a try. It seems the problem is with the Date & Time

Go to Settings > Date & Time. Turn Set Automatically to 'OFF' and move the time ahead by one minute. Try again to complete an update, or download something new. If it works, turn back on Auto Date and Time.

For many around the world, the Apple iOS App Store is down. We are not aware of any scheduled maintenance planned for the App Store on iOS so we can assume that Apple may be experiencing an outage.

The App Store on Mac does not seem to be affected by the outage it seems to only affect devices running iOS. I was able to update my Apps on my iPhone after accepting the error that said “Cannot connect to iTunes Store” however most have mentioned that they are unable to actually purchase and download new Apps.

Apple was recently working to negate a flaw in its in-app purchasing mechanism that would allow users to exploit free transactions. This outage could be Apple’s attempt to fix the problem without notice.

So far, there are confirmed App Store outages in the US, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Germany, Canada, Taiwan, and Bulgaria.

I would not expect the store to be down long, so keep trying.
