appletv can't login to netflix

my appletv won't accept my netflix login. it tells my my user or password are wrong, when i know that they are not.


the same appletv device was used for about a year, then sat in a box for a while and is now connected at a new location (new house, new ISP). i enter user/password that work on other devices including a TiVo and a Samsung blu-ray player. the same creditials worked fine on this same appleTV box previously. i've entered it multiple times. i've entered it using the original remote. i've entered it using text entry via the iphone remote app. neither works.


when i plugged it in yesterday the box went thru a software upgrade - not surprising, considering it had been dormant for a while.


i even tried changing my netflix password just to force it to be different, then entering the new netflix pw into the appletv box - still no joy.


to make sure it wasn't some kind a network config problem, i tried accessing youTube and it worked fine.


this is kind of ironic, since for a while now, i've been telling family and friends they should use the appletv netflix interface, since it is the smoothest and easiest to use...


anyone have ideas of things to try?

Same problem for me. I just called Netflix help. They informed me my plan is for 2 DVDs a month and 120 minutes of streaming---but only to a computer or iPad (something with a keyboard). My physical DVD plan isn't supported on "streaming" devices, which how Netflix defines AppleTV.


So, I can watch on my MacBook or iPad, but not on my AppleTV. You've got to be kidding me.

It seems that Netflix accessed via the Apple TV from the Iphone/iPad app actually expects you to press RETURN on the app as opposed to SUBMIT on the Netflix when submitting your password, so contrary to previous advice, enter your password as normal via your i Device application and then press RETURN on the i Device keypad and not SUBMIT on the Netflix interface and the password is accepted and works! I have been trying for absolutely ages to get this working & like you was so frustrated that it works on all other devices than the Apple TV, phew now it does on that too. (Much better than the Virgin interface to Netflix which is soooooo slowwww)

HI,

i hate to sound repetitive like other posts but I was like you and nothing worked. Space after didn't work, unplugging then plug, resetting Netflix password, or resetting network. All of it didn't work. what worked for me was to reset Apple TV. It's different from restarting which is the same as unplugging for a minute then plugging it back. It may not have properly picked up an update on the os. I really hope this helps because I know I was upset about it.
