OS X Lion Mail app Notification Sounds Bug When Plugging in Headphones

I have the same symptoms on my iMac with 10.7.2.

I will add a 'me too' -- MBA running 10.7.2.

Me as well, 2011 MBP running 10.7.2

Has ANYONE found a fix for this? Same issue, here. Started about a month ago. Late 2010 MBP, i7 2.66ghz, 8gb ram, 10.7.2.

I have the same symptoms with a 2011 iMac and my Senheiser Bluetooth headphones.

10.7.3 did not correct this bug.

I'm also using MS Messenger and notification sounds are also buffered until the headphones are switched on.

I'm currently trying the tip given in the last discussion :

"Success - in the Audio Midi Setup (Applications/Utilities) I changed the output to 2ch - 32bit Float and all the audio works well."

My headphones already had this setting, but internal speakers had 2ch - 24bit... is it a possible explanation ? Time will tell ...

So far so good. The workaround mentioned in my previous post seems to do the trick for me until now.

I have this bug too. Restarting mail.app suppresses the issue.

Mountain Lion doesn't fix the issue 😟.

Restarting Mail.app works well as indicated above by Luke.

Same here on my New retina Display MacBook Pro running mountian lion, upgraded from lion. with my old MacBook Pro I was able to replicate it while the head phones are plugged in and then removed it would play the sound from my internal speakers. Basically, it was a change in audio device, it would play it in the new device. I have to take this to apple for a possible screen "ghosting" problem, as well as posible video card problem and will check with them about this issue.

Same here, retina macbook, mountain lion. I didn't have the problem on my 2010 MBP.

Me too. MacBook Air (late 2010), OSX 10.8 (12A269). Every time I plug in headphones I get a flurry of mail sent and recieved sounds.

Same issue on a 13-inch, Mid 2011 Macbook Air running Mountain Lion. Very annoying!

I've noticed this a couple times and just realized what was happening. MBA 2012 10.8.4

I'm having the same issue with a newer retina macbook and Harmon Kardon bluetooth headphones. Looks like this bug has been around for a few years without apple stepping up to resolve it.
