Hello
what exactly is the difference between the 4th and the 5th generation AirPort Extreme?
The 5th Generation model incorporates an improved antenna design for a bit better signal penetration and coverage. See the link below for all the details:

Ok thanks Bob.
Could updating my current Extreme 4th Generation to a Extreme 5th Generation solve the problem that my Express that extends the Extreme wirelessly is to far away at the place I want the Exress to be. With a better range of the Extreme could this problem be solved?
Sorry, but not likely. We're talking very minor differences here...a few percentage points.
Try locating the Expess about 1/2 the distance from the main router to the area that needs more wireless coverage ot see if that helps.
Okay thanks for your answer.
My problem is to locate the Express at a place where it makes sense to use AirTunes
I understand. You really have two options at this point:
Add another Express near the stereo and configure it to "join" the wireless network, assuming that you have the "mid-point" Express configured to "Extend a wireless network".
Connect your single AirPort Express using an Ethernet connection. If you cannot run the EThrnet cable, take a look at a pair of Ethernet power line adatpers to send the Ethernet signal over the AC power lines in your home.
