iPhone won't accept correct passcode after updating.

I just updated my phone through iTunes. I have my phone set to require a passcode to open it. Today after updating my phone it now says my passcode (the one I set) is not correct. I am 100% sure that it is correct. How can I get into my phone?

Thanks so much for your response. I went into iTunes, right clicked "My iPhone" and clicked "Sync from Back Up". The odd thing is it listed my last back up in September 2011 but I backed it up today before I installed the update. I chose the September back up anyway but it says it can't sync because it's locked with a passcode. Guess I'm making a trip to the Apple store?

iTunes>Preferences>Devices...what iPhone backups do you show listed here? And this computer, you've synced your phone to this computer, with the passcode set on your phone, before, correct? Or did you put the passcode on your phone, but not sync after doing so? I'm asking these questions because the results you're getting from iTunes all indicate that this phone has never synced with this computer before.

Ok, iTunes>Preferences>Devices shows two backups. The "Mandy's iPhone" is the one we're talking about here. I backed it up today before I did this update but that isn't showing up for some reason. I put the passcode on it *after* the September update so I guess I haven't synched since then. Other than today during this update, of course.

Here's what I see when I go to devices under the preferences tab.

That explains why you can't restore from backup to remove it. After you first passcode protect your phone & then connect to iTunes to sync or restore, you'll be prompted to input your passcode. After that initial prompt, you won't be prompted again. Unfortunately, Apple won't be able to help you and if you can't remember the passcode(I know you keep saying you're entering it correctly), your only choice now is to restore your phone as a new device in iTunes. This will remove the passcode, but erase all data on your phone. If the erased data is on your computer, you can sync it back or restore from a previous backup after you restore as new. If you go to an Apple store, if they do anything, it will be to restore your phone as a new device.

Yeah, I just had an instant with on here with a customer service rep from Apple and they gave me a link for working around this and basically it's going to do exactly what you're saying. I'll have to restore and lose everything but that will at least get me in and then I can restore to that September back up. Thanks for all your help!!!

I had the same problem with the iphone update. My phone locked and requested a passcode that I thought I never had and after talking to apple for over an hour, all the information I got said the only way I was to restore and knows everything which was unacceptable. I have a lot of memories on my phone,, I found that:

YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOSE EVERYTHING,

the passcode is the password you made for the find my iphone/Ipad

Hi! i hope you can help my situation. I have two iphones the old one and I bought new one. What I did was transfer my sim to the new one then my child is using the old one. Both have the same passcode and the same apple id and both back up with the icloud. Now suddenly the old iphone wont accept the passcode. I contacted apple then they just sent me a link on how to restore apple id password. I tried to restore it by signing in the itunes but it will say turn off find my iphone app which I cannot do it because I cannot open the phone. I tried doing it to the other devices to turn off the find my iphone app but its still the same. Please help. If there is a way not to loose my files in it. Like the messages.
