Match is Crashing My iTunes

I have read a few posts here about this issue but none have helped me resolve this as of yet. I recently purchased iTunes Match and really want to use it but it keeps crashing iTunes. Here's what happens:

  1. In iTunes Match in iTunes, I click on "Add this Computer".
  2. I throw in my credentials.
  3. Step 1 starts and runs for about 10 minutes.
  4. This is where I can now add the "iCould Status" and "iCloud Download" columns to my library view. I sort my stuff by 'iCloud Status" and watch as stuff goes to "Error" - 5, "Ineligible" - 28 and "Waiting" - 19,202.
  5. Step 2 starts and begins incrementally counting up.
  6. Immediately when step 3 starts, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error and have to close the program. I see this in my application log:

Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 10.5.2.11, time stamp: 0x4ee0844d
Faulting module name: CoreAudioToolbox.dll, version: 7.9.7.8, time stamp: 0x4e72cbf1
Exception code: 0xc0000005

Report Id: f3d43eb6-2842-11e1-b2e1-1c6f65f9ad0e

Everytime I open iTunes back up and begin the process again, the same exact thing happens. I am running iTunes on Windows 7 64 Bit. If anyone can recommend anything to try short of removing songs a chunk at a time until I find the culprits, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Christine, I'm wondering if there might be another similar issue with your songs waiting to be matched -- do you have any songs (with iCloud status of "Waiting") that have a weird length other than 0:00 .,.maybe like some that are 0:01 or 0:02 when they should be much longer? Also, are any of them corrupted or glitchy-sounding (if you listen to them)? Finally, are any of them in different formats, like maybe a voice memo, or a sound effect, or some other strange non-song type of file? I'm guessing that any of these might also produce the same error.

I'm finding this is working too. I've got a bunch of tracks that have the icloud symbol with a slash through it that says "ineligible" when i hover the mouse pointer over the symbol. when i go to play the track, at the end the song stalls for a few seconds, then the track length gets updated, and seems to have an extra second or two added on. then match manages to gobble those tracks up next time i run it. slow and steady, getting it fixed.

Let me add that additionally, I had a few songs that were under 96kbps which is a no-no for match. They averaged under 96kbps because they were long tracks that i used VBR on...they were all songs where the ******* artists put a 20 silent gap before a hidden song at the end of the track. So I just had to take those cd's I endcoded from, re-encode using constant bit rate.

Just wanted to say thanks to Telmari, this fixed the crashing problem I was having also. Can't believe this has not been fixed yet, this thread is over 6 months old. Very disappointing and yet another problem I have experienced with iTunes Match, adding to messing up my artwork, skipping tracks and stopping in the middle of a playlist. What more disappointment can I get for my €25? 😟
