I would suggest visiting the iFixIt site. They have a number of Mac repair manuals and may have one for your Mac Mini that might be helpful.
been there, I've used that and OWC videos, while I might have a lower score/newbie I've been a bit of a dyi guy for years. I use the forums to do what I need, but will never spend the time you guys do to build a score and level #, but have been doing Linux etc and OSX since the 90's.
I was hoping someone might have their mini open and were upgrading ram etc, and could shoot a photo. I'll use a microscope tomorrow at work and try to solder it before ordering the 49.00 kit with all three antenna from mac components
correct method: under a microscope I soldered the old lead to the antenna tab (which comes through from the back. I used a VOM to ensure continuity from the pin ut to the antenna solder tab..if you got a resistance your connection is sound. I also ground the back to the sheath (as it was connected under microscopic exam.)
The sheath conection to the antenna back also acts as a cable relief to ensure no issues or stress to the cable solder tab. Then after ensuring all was well with the continuity; I applied a drop of 5 minute epoxy; ensuring the assembly wont get stressed and fall apart.
Works perfectly now, guess I answered by own question. However a steady hand, a good solder unit, good tin-silver electronic solder, and a microscope were an absoute necessity.
