How can google suggestions be cleared on iPad from the search box?

Are you referring to:

Bookmark>History>Delete History

There is no way to clear the recent Google searches short of clearing the entire history from the bookmarks menu. That will clear the Google search but it removes you entire history as well.

If you want to remove a bookmark - swipe your finger lightly across the bookmark in the list and a red delete button will pop up. Tap the delete button to remove the bookmark.

You have to delete bookmarks one at a time.

I'm not sure I understand your question but if you want to remove whatever you have typed into the Google search field - tap the X inside the circle on the right side of the Google search field - that will completely remove whatever was typed in there.

You can remove one letter at a time by tapping to place the insertion point (the blue line) in the spot in the Google search field where you want to remove letters and then tap the X in the upper right corner of the iPad keyboard which is the delete key on the iPad keyboard.

Settings > Safari - Clear history works for me.
