itunes v10.5.2 will not re-open after using it and closing it once on my Windows XP computer.

After installing the latest version of itunes, v10.5.2, on my Windows XP computer, I find that once I close itunes, it will not re-open until I restart my computer. The itunes icon remains in my system tray and is unresponsive. The only way I can use itunes after opening and closing it once is to restart my computer. I've checked for updates and support guidance on itunes.com to no avail. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it did not fix the problem. I was not having this problem with the previous version of itunes. Any advice.

Windows XP, Windows XP withe service pack 3

Same issue whereby iTunes would run fine on first start following a PC reboot but would not restart again until PC was rebooted. I am running the latest version, 10.5.3.3 and the problem is definately with APSDaemon.exe.

If APSDaemon.exe is terminated each time then iTunes restarts ok.

I then tried to signout of the Store but iTunes hung until I terminated APSDaemon.exe and then iTunes jumped back into life and automatically restarted APSDaemon.exe and then signed me out ok.

So for me, simply NOT signing into the Store has cured the problem as APSDaemon.exe is not started by iTunes anymore.

Apple need to come up with a permanent fix I think.

I too get the same issue. Win 7 and iTunes hangs when you try to re-open. It does not close out properly in task manager as you can still see it "running". When you force closure it will not re start.

Definately a prob with the latest version. I did an image restore to 12 months ago and all worked fine but then Apple keep wanting you to get the latest version which IS BUGGY.

Come on Apple sort it out......

Hi Mike,

Same problem with xp. Have a look at previous responses. I renamed APSDaemon.exe to APSDaemon1.exe and I have had no problems with itunes restarting. The file apparently is only used for when you whish to sync several apple devices. As I only have an iPad I had no need for the file. It works with the latest Apple update.Hope this helps.

You will probably find the file in: program files\common files\apple\apple application support.

itunes v10.5.2 will not re-open after using it and closing it once on my Windows XP computer.
