Korean iPhone 4s

I'm looking to get iPhone 4s in south korea with no contract. It is about 815,000 won = 700 us dollar

Because of the lake of communication, I could not get right answer for my inquiry.

My question is

Does Korean iPhone 4s would work in another countries that support GSM network?

I'm worried that if get it, it would work in korea but would not work in another countries.

I know that iPhone 4s is worldwide!

btw, it has sim slot and its model is MD235KH

In addition, Korean network supports WCDMA

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

If you are using a CDMA carrier, the SIM slot can be used when traveling to areas where there is no CDMA network.

You may need a SIM from your carrier and you may have to pay international roaming rates when travelling. Some CDMA carriers will unlock the SIM slot so that you can use a local SIM card when traveling. You will have to ask your carrier what their policy is on this.

This page: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937 lists 2 supported carriers in South Korea.

SK Telecom sells unlocked iPhones. ohello sells locked phones and they do NOT offer unlocking.

In theory, a phone purchased through SK Telecom should work on any compatible GSM network.

Your response was totally clear.

SK telcom and retail stores (such as UBASE a#) are selling unlocked iPhone 4s in Korea.

btw, I have iPad 3G from Saudi Arabia, I brought it here and I got olleh sim card, it's working well.

But I'm planning to get iphone 4s gift to my brother in Saudi Arabia.

I'm worried that if I get it from Korea, it would not work in Saudi Arabia.

You are totally right. iPhones that are sold in meddle east have no FaceTime at all. It's ridicules.

But I'm surprised that iPhone warranty isn't international, are you sure?

If it's not international, that's really not good at all.

btw, I have MacBook and I went to retail store in Korea to fix it, they told me your MacBook warranty is not valid.

If my MacBook warranty was valid, they would fix here in Korea despite mine was purchased in USA

So far as I am aware, the warranty on Macs is international. The phones are not, largely due to the situation with carrier locked/unlocked phones and differences in places like the Middle East where facetime is banned by law.

The E.U. is considered one country for warranty purposes. Some people have been able to get service outside the country of purchase, but it's hit or miss sometimes. The warranty documents do not explicitly state you can't get service, it says you may be denied service.

Can anyone let me know which US mobile carrier is compatible with Korean iPhone 4S? My relative is coming to US for three months and he said that he has KT unlock his SIM card on his iPhone 4S. I know there are different wireless mobile 3G bands (T-mobile vs AT&T) and was wondering which US carrier is fully compatible with Korean iPhone 4S (i.e. 3G wireless data as well as voice calls). Thank you for all your help in advance.
