iCloud calendar invitations not working (sending or receiving)

I am no longer able to send or receive calendar invitations to iCloud users, and based on browsing the support communities it looks like I am not alone with this issue...

I can create calendar events from any iCloud device and the event syncs fine between all my iCloud devices. However, if I try to invite another iCloud user to an event, he/she does not receive any invite (non iCloud users seem to get email invitations). It makes no difference whether I make the event on my phone, ipad, or computer. Moreover, when another iCloud user sends me an iCal invite, I receive it as an email, not as a notification through my iphone/ipad/or in iCal on my mac.

Everything was working fine until a couple weeks ago. As far as I know, I made zero changes. Everything just stopped working. My primary email address for iCloud is a gmail address. The settings on the icloud-calendar website are checked to "use iCloud for incoming invitations". Checking the apple support communities, it seems like this is a widespread issue.

Responses would be highly appreciated. The lack of any customer support and/or recognition of this issue is very disappointing.

All,

After playing some phone-tag, I spoke w/ the tech support manager that my call was originally escalated to. He was able to recreate the same issue on his end. Basically, when an iCloud user sends a calendar invitation to another iCloud user, it seems to get lost in space (which we already know). It is promising at least that he was able to reproduce the issue, and he said he is in the process of contacting the iCloud engineers to discuss the issue. Hopefully they will recognize/acknowledge a break in the system and fix it.

I am not aware of any fixes yet. Unfortunately my attempt to remove and re-setup icloud on my iPad did not resolve the issue as described above....

Nothing else to update right now. I expect to hear back next week and will let everyone know what I hear. In the meantime, it can't hurt for other people to continue to acknowledge the same issue on the forums and call the support lines so Apple knows that the issue (and frustration) is widespread.

Today i called Appel Care for this. After escalation to the manager and some tests he maybee identifyed the error but can't solve it own. In MobileMe times i had a appleID (someone@googlemail.com) and with this i created my mobileMe account (someone@me.com) as i now migrated to icloud this mobileMe adress was upgraded to a fully appleID.... the problem now is, that there are two appleIDs pointing to the same main email adress. This normaly shouldnt be possible, but as part of the migration it seems to be a bug. The Apple Manager told me that when I remove the someone@me.com from one of the accounts, it should work. I tryed it but its not possible.... soo he sets my both accounts to bugfixing mode, and escalated it to the icloud engineers. I will keep you updated when something new happens.

Apple has really made a mess of their mobile services! Google can do online services flawlessly, but Apple struggles. The migration of MobileMe to iCloud has been a disaster! Furthermore the cancellation of galleries and iDisk makes the iCloud weaker. If Apple can't get these online service resolved, Google and Android is going to take advantage of this weakness and Android will thrive.

People used to ask why I use Apple (paying more) and I would reply "it just works.". Which used to be the case. I could plug and play. Now I'm investing so much time trying to get iCloud to work. Disappointing Apple.

I have the same issue except here is what is really strange. We have four family memebers with a iCloud account. My wife and I originally had a mobileme account and converted it over, while my two daughters created a me.com account under iCloud directly.

All have iPhone 4's. When I create an invite it sends to my wife, perfectly everytime, but my daughters never see the invite on their phones or under their cloud.com accounts.

It would appear the only invites working between idevices are those who have had a me.com account before it was switched over to icloud, but if my daughters create the invite from their phones, it is delivered to all accounts. What's up!?!?!

I have found the solution to the problem it seems.

For the problems with iCloud calendar invites not going through to calendar on iPhone, iPad, iTouch and so on or going to email instead.

Solution was found while I tried to sort out a problem with my iMessager, it kept saying could not validate as it was already in use. I also had the same issue with FaceTime on my iPhone after logging out, I couldn't log back on.

- Head over to appleid.apple.com

- Remove any old email email addresses that have been assiociated with the account (if there has been any) - this should sort it the iMessage and FaceTime issue.

- Change your password, making sure that it conforms to the new constrates set by apple (two letters, one upper case & one lowercase, one number and so on.

- Click "Save Changes"

- update all your login settings with the new password and it should work.

I have fixed my me.com and my fiancé me.com account with these steps. Hope it works for you all as well
