Hi. I have a new MacBook Air. I am going to use it to connect to our windows server. My problem is how I make a backslash. I have tried shift alt : but it does not work. I also tried alt < or alt shift < but it does not help. What shall I do??????

On a Japanese keyboard type: Option + ¥ (the symbol to the left of the delete key).
This in English for the international users :-)
I am using Parallels desktop, but I can't get the \ to the virtual machine

On our DK keyboard there isn't a ALT button

I found that on the British Mac Keyboard it is the key onto the left of the key marked z, which is located here:
That was my first thought, then I realized that he may be on a Norwegian Keyboard.
If so, then alt-7 or alt-shift-7 or alt-shift-/ may work for the backslash
I think this is valid for some apps only, the ones having their custom shortcuts, like Xpress or InDesign.

The alt-shift-7 that I suggested is the same as shift+alt+7
For AZERTY (French) keyboards MAC Airbook 2014 it was alt+shift+/, thanks!
If any other app, but not MS Office or Excel, is OK, check setting in MS suite, their apps have such specific settings.
