BBC iPlayerDesktop fails to install

I get:

whenever Adobe Air (the application in question) tries to install. This occurs in Lion (7.2) and SnowLeoprd (10.6.8). My new (mid 2011) iMac meets the criteria.

Any ideas please?

Thanks pennbank but I did do this and that was what, I think, caused some of the problems.

My Apple person said that although the files were in trash they might still be affecting the re-install and so advised emptying the trash in order to completely clear them all. And of course that's when we discovered the problem with the non-emptying trash can! Once that was solved the re-install worked a treat.

So I for one will be emptying my trash very often!

You're welcome. I think that is the best course of action because sometimes, as in my case, it isn't necessarily something that you can do on your own.

There is also the possibility that you'll learn something else that you didn't realise you needed to know - always a bonus!
