Battery lifespan on iPhone 4S

I just got my iPhone 4S and it was 50% full on the battery. After I used for awhile and I charge it when it's 20-30% battery left. But I didnt manage to charge it to full 100% for the first time. I did charged full for the 2nd time for about 4 hrs as a replacement.

As I understand that 1st time charging is very important and need to charge longer than normal.

Now I felt like the battery goes down quite fast, does the first time charging screw up affect the battery lifespan?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

You didn't hurt it, but you should fully discharge it until it shuts off, then charge for 4 hours with a wall charger to calibrate the battery gauge. Then compare your usage to the specs. If you think you are getting significantly less then post back.
