Can I play with an unwanted iPad and then return it?

Howdy y'all,

Santa was nice enough to bring me an iPad, but I really have no use for it and I'm thinking of returning it, because I think it would be a shame for such a beautiful thing to stay in my drawer. So I think I'll take it to the store.

BUT I'm having second thoughts. Can I take it out, play with it, see if I fall in love with it (i.e. activate it, install stuff on it, all that) and then still get a full refund?

Thanks y'all.

Merry Christmas!!

For many stores, once you open that box you are liable to pay a 'restocking fee', because the store can no longer sell it as 'new' but has to send it back to apple to be 'refurbished'. (in this case, reset to factory defaults)

You also will want to know the return policy for the store where it was purchases. Unless they gave you a gift receipt, you're likely to get nothing but store credit (Especially when a store is looking at shelling out 500+ dollars)
