Mac not detecting usb flash drive

I've just brought an HP v210w usb flash drive. When i plugg it in to my Macbook Pro running OSX 10.7.2 it does not do anything at all. it does not recognise it nor does it give an error message. its like as if i haven't plugged anything in. Help...

Same with me.

But my usb drive is of ... obscure nature, something cheap I ordered from china and "iStick"-like.

If I reboot my systeem though, I can see it and exchange data on the USB-stick. Once out and back in the Mac again, it will not show up.

Other USB-sticks, of better signature, work flawlessly. they are recognized immediately.

I encountered d same compatibility problem with a Sony 16 GB pen drive. Got past thru trial and error. My pen drive showed up once I connected it to my Macbook at the end of an external USB cable. Now it shows up everytime I connect it via the cable but not otherwise. At least my pen drive didn't get consigned to the garbage!!!

But Apple should seriously think about tackling this irritating compatibility issue everytime one uses anything that is non-Apple. It's **** frustrating and makes you regret buying an Apple product.
