Facebook and Adobe Flash

Hello,

I can not get videos to play on Facebook. I am using 10.5.8 on a non-intel based G5 tower. I have looked all over trying to find a solution to this problem with no luck. You can only download the latest version of Flash for an intel based machine.

Tom-

Thanks for supplying the link. I followed the instructions that came with the download but had to make two additional actions. First, I had to move my flash blocker plug-in out of the library/internet plug-ins folder. Then, I had to shut down and power up my iBook G4 (restarting didn't work). Now, both Safari and Firefox play the Flash videos that I couldn't access before.

Thanks again.

John

@BDAquaThe fine print says that TenFourFox does not work with Flash. Thank you for the suggestion. This looks like a good browser for my computer. But I use Flash on Facebook so I chose not to download it. Thank you!

I have been over the Adobe web site a zillion times. I have tried everything. My skills are intermediate but eventually I can usually figure things out and get what I need. Not this time!

Finally, after many aggravating hours I used your solution and it worked!!!

Same here. The http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip file worked for me. For some reason it wasn't until I had cold started my G4 that I could get it to work. I did many restarts, fixed permissions, cleared caches, did what Adobe told me to do, uninstalled the supposedly correct version that they recommended. I had given up for that day but it worked the next day!

CPU use used to be 100% beforehand, now it is manageable though everything is hard for this machine these days. (1.67 ghz, 15" Powerbook DL with 1.5 gb RAM, 10.6.11)

Thanks for this thread!

Hi Texas Mac Man

Tried this hack also and it works on some videos facebook etc, using OS 10.5.8 with Firefox.

Would like to see missed TV channel 4 programmes, I have no luck with this hack on these!

http://www.channel4.com/programmes

Could these videos be accessed by an old iMac running 10.5.8 with any other software hacks?

Like David Bartosic says "I too think it is preposterous to try and put these excellent machines out to pasture before their time."

Thank you very much for your hack!!!!
