firefox starting when mac boots up

When my Mac boots up Firefox 9 is starts up. For the life of me I do not know why this is happening. I have checked everywhere what I could think of that is causing Firefox to start up when my Mac boots up (I have checked in Login Items under Users and Groups and the Dock Icon).

Can anyone help me.

It is, I think its also connected to Kaspersky. It has (or had) a bad reputation for causing macs to not 'sleep'. Again, like Little Snitch, I've not heard of it causing Ffx to start, but the cause of your problem lies somehwere in that output list, so its really a process of elimination.

As I said already, junk Little Snitch. Restart. If no change, take Protec out of startup (you can always add them back later).

BTW, you didn't tell me if you tried changing your default browser to Safari and whether the problem occurred with Safari. We haven't eliminated Firefox itself as the problem yet.

A different way of looking at this problem has just occurred to me. Can you try this:

Open a window (other than Finder or Firefox), say Safari, then hit the power button and choose 'restart'. Do NOT close the Safari window and do NOT uncheck the box in the shutdown window.

When the mac reboots, does the safari window show up? It should. If not, then the cause of your trouble may be a corrupted .plist file (easily solved). Let us know the results of this test and we'll take it from there.

I tried what you said and Safari started up when the Mac started (Firefox did its normal thing as well).

OK, that rules out a problem with corrupt .plist file. Having seen the (sorry, but really) junk you've got running on startup, I'm betting 99% therein lies your problem. Look at my previous post to this one. However, if you want to try some 'most likely culprits' to shorten the investigation time, after removing everything I said above, add back in first (in this order, restarting each time)

1. HyperDock Helper first (highly suspect)

2. LaunchBar (reasonably suspect)
