Hello! You'll probably have to boot from the install disk and then erase the drive completly (use the zero option (takes a few hours depending on drive size)) and re-install the OS. Tom

Hello Again! I don't recall having the access that you would need booted from the install cd but you could probably use firwire target disk mode and another mac to extract your documents. You would have your computer shut down and connect it to another mac with a firewire cable then boot your mac with the "t" key held down until you see a "t" on the screen. At that point your HD should be on the desktop of the other mac where you could copy your docs.


FireWire target disk mode allows a Macintosh computer with a FireWire port (the target computer) to be used as an external hard disk connected to another computer (the host). Once a target computer is started up as a FireWire hard disk and is available to the host computer, you can copy files to or from that volume.

Important: The computer will not go into FireWire target disk mode if "Open Firmware Password" has been enabled.

Host computer requirements

Host computers must meet the following requirements:
Built-in FireWire port, or a FireWire port on a PC card
FireWire 2.3.3 or later
Mac OS 8.6 or later
