Apps won't open

I recently updated a few apps on my iPhone 3g, some of them are working perfectly while a couple just refuse to open. As in start to load for a couple of seconds and close down again. I had a look at what I can do about it but so far the only suggestions are to turn it off then back on... There is a problem with that as my on/off switch just simply does not work (been dropped too many times 😟).

Is there any other suggestions as to what the problem may be or how to fix it?
