How can I stop auto sync of unwanted apps?

My son downloads games for his iPod and/or iPhone that I don't want on my devices (iPhone and iPad). When I sync my devices these apps automatically try to download.

I've tried to stop this by removing my work computer (where I sync my iPad) from my family network. It doesn't help.

What else can I do? Is this a cloud function?

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1

Turn off automatic downloads on your devices. Settings>Store>Automatic Downloads>Apps>Off.

You can also disable auto syncing in iTunes. Launch iTunes on you computer. Go to edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Quit iTunes. When you connect your iDevices to sync, you will now have to initiate the sync on your own. You can pick and choose the content that you want to transfer to each device if you do this. iTunes will no longer automatically sync.
