When I turn on the junk mail filter on my OSX server Outlook 10 can't send mail.

I am trying to set up a junk mail filter on the server and when I turn it on people in the office using Outlook v10 on a windows computer can't send out e-mail.

When I turn it off then once again they can send e-mail. Are my settings correct? Thank you for any help.

Are you using Outlook, or Outlook Express? The Outlook Express package is usually a little easier to get working with non-Microsoft mail servers than is Outlook; that works better with Exchange.

What is in the mail server logs when the Outlook (Express?) client fails to send mail?

If (guessing) it's a broken HELO message from the client, then launch Terminal.app and issue the following two commands:

sudo postconf -e "smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated

permit_mynetworks reject_invalid_helo_hostname reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname"

sudo postfix reload

This sequence is a variation of what's listed in the TS3023 article, and this avoids directly editing the configuration files, and this sequence also avoids (entirely) removing the HELO checks; the sequence shown above disables the HELO check (only) for verified clients.
