iWeb quits at half the preparation of the files when publishing the whole site

SOS ! After having saved my site on a local folder, I can't publish anymore my whole site through iWeb to FTP. iWeb quits when arriving at half the preparation of the files for publication. At one moment I had the message "Insufficient memory" (?!?). My site www.yesicannes.com is now big enough after one year of reports published with many pictures, but before I published my site on a local folder, I had no problem publishing frequent updates. But as I published on a local folder, I have to publish again the whole site and iWeb stops all the time before the publication. Any help please ?

Why exactly are you publishing your site to a local folder and then using iWeb to upload? I don't quite see the point?

If you are publishing to a local folder, then you may as well upload your site from there and download and use Cyberduck to do this.

Are you publishing your site to a local folder as a backup? If so, don't because it is not a backup at all. If you want to backup, then you need to backup your domain.sites file instead.

Hi Old Toad,

I abide by your advices. Perhaps iWeb won't even upload next updates, but Cyberduck will be able to get round this difficulty.

I want to stress that, out of 4 forum, to which I have asked help, only you provided good ideas and answered my many questions. (I must tell that the other three were French...)

I'll let you know the result. Many thanks for your precious help and time.

Hi! There is indeed a mystery (or a spell) around my site. How funny: Cyberduck crashed at half the upload, letting go an error message, something like "Time read past". So, in utter stress, I used good old iWeb SEO Tool's FTP to upload. Everything went OK until it blocked over a page, the status bar showing more than a third of uploading; it didn't crash, but kept on milling and milling and still does, after three hours...

I looked at the site on Internet and, oh surprise ! everything was back into order, like previously, from the Home page to the first reports we put online. All the links seem to work.

The only probleme is that on iWeb, the pages didn't turned blue, as they do when published. I don't know if I have to quit iWeb SEO Tool, or let it keep on milling around. Perhaps is it writing whatever file somewhere in the fourth dimension?

Could you please explain what you mean by "give CD a try" ?

Thank you again and again. And again!

Hi! Of course, CD was Cyber Duck, but I was so stressed by the site breakdown that I misunderstood and thought perhaps you were meaning to replace iWeb with a fresh version from the installation CD...

Well, you see, intuitively was I guessing that iWeb SEO Tool was a part of the solution. But I always don't know what is actually happening with iWeb and my site, and I'm afraid nobody knows. You seem to believe that one page is the reason of the problem... I have deleted the page on which iWeb kept on crashing, but I wouldn't do anything. Cyber Duck crashed on another page and iWeb SEO blocked on a different one, too.

Perhaps will I understand the problem some day or other, but meanwhile, instead of loosing my time on iWeb, which is good only to realize the site of an association or a familly site, I will buy Dreamweaver and learn how to create a site with it.

Apple makes good products (I still have my Mac SE 30 with printer from 25 years ago and both still are functionning) but doesn't give the means to understand the limits of the softs. No user manual available, no easy way to communicate with iWeb creators to find help... What would we do without forums with goodwilling people like you ? I don't have time enough to go from one forum to another to seek informations. I need efficient tools with good results.

I keep in mind the diferent elements I've seen during these last days, especially through your contact and perhaps will find the solution. Thank you very much for your time and precious help.

Kindest regards.
