I don't have a Mac, I have a toshiba running on windows (not sure what year, I think it is 2008). Please explain it in simple terms, I have no problem with technology but it hates me.

The one with the Sunflower is the Photos app, now tap to start, in there at the bottom, tap the left most symbol labeled Albums. Here you will see what I've described.
Where are the photos you say are from your computer? Are they in a separate Album on this list?
yes they are in separate albums

When you tap the name of one of the 4 albums contain the pictures from your computer do you see an arrow button on the top right of the screen?
yes i do
Press this button and tap on the images of some of the photos and see if a red Delete button appears on the bottom right.
there is no delete button (i also just figured out that two of the four folders are empty)
Try swiping your finger to the left over the names of the empty folders and see if the red minus sign appears. If it does press it to delete these folders.
Go to settings on iPhone and turn off photo stream.
my friend suggested that but i couldn't get it to work on any of the albums, not even the ones i had created on my iphone.
If you haven't activated iCloud you won't have Photo Stream.
On the Albums list if you press the Edit button on the top right, does the red minus sign appear next to the empty folders? If so, press it.
no, it does not.
Did you try turning off photo stream on all your devices? Including iMac?
I accidentally synced all the pictures from my laptop onto my iphone4. It won't let me delete the pictures. How do I get rid of them? They are just wasting space.
