Install Xcode on Mac OS X 10.7.2

Hi Everyone,

I have bought a Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.7.2. I am trying to install Xcode 4.2.1 on it through App store but the process stops as soon as it started with a message: "The Application cannot be downloaded The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."

It's happening since saturday, so it's not a temporary problem as i initially thought.

Please help me with this.

Thanks in Advance.

Sorry, scratching my head here. 😟

The last test confirmed that the problem is with the App store and your computer, rather than downloading in general, saving to your drive or your internet connection. But where you go from here I don't know, other than contacting Apple.

NB: do run software update just to make sure you're not missing anything.

Incidentally, when I did the Debug > Reset Application on my computer, I noticed that I was still logged in (which was a surprise) afterward.

Be sure to log out and log in again if you haven't done that since the Reset Application procedure. You can also do 'Clear cookies' in the same menu (I'd assumed the 'Reset' command would have done that, but since it doesn't log you out, maybe it doesn't).

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:

  • Be sure your Mac is shut down.
  • Press the power button.
  • Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
  • Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.

Launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?

After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
