What happened to the battery indicator on my ipad's lock screen?

I've noticed recently that the large green (or red, if low) battery indicator that used to appear on the lock screen when my iPad 2 was plugged in has disappeared. I have searched in vain for a setting for this, could someone point me in the right direction? It could have happened when I updated to iOS 5.0.1, but I am not quite sure the time matches up, and it seems like a silly change to make. Also, my iPhone has the battery indicator, and it's also on 5.0.1.

The issue may also be caused by the power source that you are using:

iPad: Charging the battery

If you don't see the white charging or plug icons, try connecting to the 10W power adapter.

iPad: Charging the battery

To charge your iPad battery, try one of the following:

  • Connect iPad to a power outlet using the included cable and the 10W USB power adapter.
  • Connect to a high-power USB 2.0 port using the included cable.

MattV - I should have mentioned, I've tried turning the iPad on and off a few times, and I've tried both plugging it into my Macbook Pro, and into a wall outlet.

Diavonex - It at least used to show the battery no matter what charge level the iPad was at, if it was plugged in. I believe the article you linked is talking about the image that shows without a lock screen, if the battery is too low to be used.
