Safari does not open any webpage although all other functions seem to work, iTuines Store only opens as simple HTML (see below), and only after some long wait.

So far I have tried:

Turning off my firewall

Re-starting bonjour service

Re-installing all above apple components (individualy and collectively)

Deleting 'preferences' files in Safari

Any other suggestions greatfuly received!

Just a blank screen. No error messages or content regardless of web site I try and access.

Okay ... that's reminiscent of a LSP-related issue that can produce trouble for both iTunes and Safari. But I normally associate the iTunes trauma for that with a blank Store, rather than your sort of basic-html effect. (That basic-html thing is more like the 306 errors for both iTunes and Safari. But the 306-troubles are most commonly proxy-related, and your iTunes diagnostics aren't showing a proxy being used.)

Just in case, I think we'd better check on the LSP thing first. Although it doesn't mention Safari (at the time I'm writing the post), let's start with the following document:

iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

Jan 6, 2012 11:28 AM in response to johnfromstreatley

It says "BfLLR over MSAFD etc." so looks like it is "Bigfoot"

My only concern before removing is that this came as pre-installed software on my Dell (Alienware) PC.

... So it's something associated with your network card, I think.

Experimental stuff here ... but looking at the Bigfoot website, I suspect the LSP may be associated with the Killer Network Manager:

Are you able to disable the Visual Bandwidth Control? If so, does that clear up the iTunes and Safari problems?

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Hi b,

Thanks to you pointing me in the right direction, I think I have solved the problem (subject to anything that comes up in next few days with systems performance or stability)

Basically I have dissabled the Xeno NIC from starting on PC startup by changing the satrtup configuration settings.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1401-startup-programs-change.html

Not sure what it did, perhaps optimises bandwidth?

Anyway, performance seems OK for my needs at present, and more importantly iTunes and Saafri work perfectly. (Wi-Fi sync even seems to have started working which I was having trouble with!)

I will report this conflict as a Bug with Apple.

Thanks for your help again in pointing me in the right direction.

Hi B Noir,

I recently had to do a System Restore on my Windows 7 64 bit machine and then I got the dreaded "Safari has stopped working" windows whenever I try to launch it. To be more specific, Safari, doesn't even launch. I get that message. Then when I click "Close the program", I get the "Safari has stopped working" message again. After I close that, then it stops.

I've tried reinstalling the latest version of Safari twice now, and it still isn't working.

I also tried creating another Windows account, and Safari does not work on the new account either, unfortunately.

Finally, I also tried your "So-much-for-subtlety" instructions and that unfortunately did not work.

Any ideas? If it helps, here's the problem signature from when I get the "Safari has stopped working window":
