And the Usage is running constantly even when all my apps are closed. Started out of no where yeseterday. Tried Hard shutdown, as well as a restore. Help?

Looks like that's where I'm headed. Total restore and restoring from backup didn't work. I probably won't make it to Apple until Saturday afternoon. At this point I expect to be given a brand new phone, but have some worry that when I restore from backup the problem will return. Does this sound like a hardware or software issue??? The inability to turn off sounds hardware related, but the usage thing confuses me....anyone care to weigh in?
That sounds more like an hardware problem.
If you have all of your contacts, pictures, songs etc. in the proper locations on your computer, you might consider setting up your replacement as a new phone if you're worried a restore from backup will leave you in the same situation.
So hardware malfunction it is. I just troubleshot over the phone with Apple Tech Support and we did another restore. He was smart enough to have me disconnect and attempt to shut off the phone when it was completely wiped of my data. Sure enough, the phone would not shut off. I'm scheduled for a Genius Appointment on Saturday but its already in the case file that I'm getting a new phone. If anyone else experiences this issue that is probably where you'll wind up. The shutdown post restore as a new phone is the key here.

Indeed, hardware problem it is. Needs to be repaired or the unit replaced, contact Apple Support or your local Apple Store if there is one nearby. Mine would only "Power Off" successfully and STAY powered off if it was plugged into a power source. Otherwise it would power off and restart by itself. In addition, the two-day usual battery life became less than one day for a full charge.
