FaceTime losing audio

Hi,

I regularly talk to my Dad overseas via Facetime. He has a macbook air previous gen. running snow leopard with latest facetime version installed from the app store. I typically use my iPad, but at times use my iMac/Macbook. It seems to be happening on a regular basis now that after talking with him for maybe 30 minutes I will suddenly not be able to hear him although he can still hear me. The solution is I tell him to quit his facetime and reopen it and call me back and it works again. On my end I'm running the latest software/OS on all my devices. Any idea what this issue can be? Thanks,

rc

Had the same problem last night during the NBA Finals final game. MacBook Pro with all latest to iPhone 4s - no audio on the phone. Not a harware or internet connection problem from the MacBook as two nights ago worked fine MacBook Pro to MacBook Pro from beginning to end without any issues.

Guess you get what you pay for, but Apple used to be better than this as it is clear that this is not a new problem as the threads about this issue go back to the beta version in 2010. Thought they were now all about the consumer experience rather than pro stuff.

***! WAKE UP APPLE!!

People have been having this issue for years with FaceTime up to latest iOS 7 and Mavericks. There is no hope for it from Apple. Over the few generations of os's they'll pretty up the skin of it but do nothing with the core of the app where the problem is. They are well aware of it, most 'Genius'es have encountered it. Don't waste your money on support - they will not fix it.
