16gb iphone only has 13.09 gb capacity on itunes?

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone could help me?

I recently bought a white 16gb iphone 4s, and along with the other problems with battery, and siri being utterly useless within the UK for buisness searches😠 I've recently just discovered that my Iphone has decided that its now a 13gb iPhone.... Now im not great with technology and it may be a very simple solution - I've currently got it in my head that the missing 2.41gb?! is taken up with software?!

When i plug the iphone into iTunes i look at capacity and it says that its 13.59gb

is there a simple soltuion, is it possible that my messages or something else may be taking up this room on my iPhone??

Any helpful response would be greatly aprecicated

thanks

Chloe 🙂

The 2.41 gbs "missing" on your phone is for the operating system, siri, and other formating files, it has 16gbs of storage, but you can only store content on so much, and still be able to use it as a phone, media player, otherwise you have an expensive usb thumb drive.

For the record I'm actually female.

I don't see what me being British has to do with anything, unless you are discriminating, which is against the 'etiquette' of these boards.

My replies to you were abrupt in reaction to the patronising and rude tone you spoke to me in. I certainly do not claim to know everything, but I do take exception to being spoken to in the way you have spoken to me.

My original post was not rude in any way yet you chose to respond in a very patronising rude manner and there was no need for it at all. Please try being civil with people. maybe that's just the difference with us 'Brits', we have manners.

I shall leave it there for now as I have said my piece and don't want to continue arguing further.

You were rude. You had a go at me for resurrecting a thread and then continued to tell me I obviously couldn't read properly.

That to me is rude. Which is why you got the reply back that you did.

I simply asked why you were calling the person a troll who in my eyes had given a valid opinion. That wasn't rude it was a legitimate question.

I am a fairly newish user of these threads and don't know what your 'usual customs' are, I can only go by the usual rules on all other forums I use. Many threads are resurrected if other people are still having similar issues and want to comment on it. Such is the way of forums.

When you come along 18 months later, you have no idea what may or may not have actually occurred in a thread. You just know what's left. You don't know anything about the original thread, what someone did or didn't say in comments that were removed by the Hosts. You just see what may be the bare bones after something has been edited and left. I think you were rude to me in your initial comment. I don't think that I was rude back, just stating facts. You think that you weren't rude to me in your comment, but that I was rude back. As I said, it is in the eye of the beholder.

I was by no means rude in my initial reply to you.

My replies after my second reply were definitely more scathing because your tone was still to be insulting.but my first two replies were perfectly polite. All of your replies were rude, including calling me a troll after my second polite reply, so naturally I stopped being polite at that point.

No I don't know about the poster, and yes there are things i probably missed but that is where when asked why you called the person a troll for just stating an opinion, you could have simply advised you'd had issues with them before. Instead you told me I obviously couldn't read, which really wasn't very polite.

There are ways of explaining things to someone and had you just been more polite instead of patronising I would have happily accepted your answer without further question.

Wow. Just wow. All of these people have an account here and don't know this is standard AND MAKES SENSE!? Incredible...Did everyone here think that Apple was going to give you extra hard drive space just for the OS (which isn't a static size)?? Some of you say you're not getting what you paid for...is the OS not part of what you paid for? If not, I suggest you remove iOS from your device and that way you'll have the whole 16/32/64/128 GB of storage all to yourself...with no way to use it.

You are paying for what you get in the device. The pre-installed apps like contacts, app store, iTunes are files on the device. If you got a phone with full 16gb you might as well throw the phone away because you couldn't set it up. It is the same way on any other non iPhone product so no need to blame apple. Blame the knowledge you lack of.
