I need to run a SCSI device on Mac Pro running Lion

I have recently upgraded to a Mac Pro running Lion from a Power PC G5. I have a camera attached to my microscope that is a SCSi device, I need to be able to use it on the new computer. Is there a PCI Express card that will work on the Mac Pro with an Xeon processor running Lion? I know that CDW lists a card for about $350. Has anyone tired a card that works or know of an adaptor, something a little less expensive?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Atto was one of the last companies to make Mac OS X compatible PCI SCSI cards. I'd look in their line up for 10.7 compatible cards. http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ is a good place to research upgrade card options. Firewire to SCSI adapters are rare and may also have compatible drivers. I would not go USB to SCSI as that really slows you down.

Thanks, Rick. I wasn't sure as I had no other SCSI device to test with. The software for the scanner states for OS X that a FireWire port is required. That led me to assume it will only look for scanner on a FW port, despite the fact that scanner itself is a SCSI device.

For our hardware, the scanner itself provides the power for the Ratoc via the SCSI chain. No need for the AC/DC adapter. Luckily, we've never had to look at the configuration software provided with the FR1SX. We just plug it in and it works.

Well Rats, the FR1SX adaptor did not work. I'm back to using my old computer to acquire images, then transfer them to the new computer and do my editing there.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input on my problem. You folks are great.

I Now have a FR1SX for sale, you still interested brnfox? $214.00 what I paid for it with shipping.

Hi, just curious what could have happened on my end. Was using a Belkin SCSI to FW on my 2008 Imac with no problem, Vuescan 8x....after some time tried again and the computer won't see anything in the System Profiler..says can't list Firewire Devices at any # on the scanners (Arcus II and Nikon LS 2000). If anyone has suggestions, let me know. If anyone has another adapter for sale, let me know too. Ed Hamrick says it's the hardware....still puzzled. Ready for a new scanner, but not much out there.....any suggestions?

It's important to have the on and off sequence of the computer - scanner - Ratoc set correctly.

First turn all 3 components on.

Then shut down the computer.

Next shut down the scanner.

Finally unplug the Ratoc.

Then reverse the order.

Plug in the Ratoc.

Turn on the scanner (and wait a minute)

Then boot up the computer.

For some reason my mouse is disabled at this point, but turning the scanner off and then back on fixes it.

Now the system recognizes my Ratoc Firewire and everything works.

I wonder if the prices of the Ratoc will keep going up?
I might sell mine and use the money to get a new Epson v700.
