Trackpad: No Select function and no dock

My 13 inch black macbook from 2008 started having issues with the trackpad about a year ago. Nothing a good restart wouldn't fix...until today. I can move the mouse just fine, but I can't click/select anything or bring up the dock. I tried resetting the pram, but that didn't help. I removed the battery, but that didn't help either. This is extremely frustrating. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

PS: I'm running Snow Leopard if that helps at all.

PLEASE HELP ME TOO, SAME THING OVER HERE.

I can see that there hasn't been any response to this inquiry. So, I thought it wouldn't hurt to add my issue as well. Who knows? Maybe you found your answer and will check back one day?

I too am having an issue with my internal trackpad not functioning like it is supposed to. I have a 2008 Aluminum MacBook 13" running Mountain Lion.

Thanks, From Way Too Much, Jenn
