iPhone 4S battery issues

I recently purchased a brand new iPhone which has terribly low battery life. If I countinously use the phone over 3G network for 2 hours, almost half of the battery will be gone. I'm not using any heavy applications which streams video etc.I already had updated 5.0.1 but it seldom helps. Any solutions for this?

Hi CSarth - what is your build? On your phone, go to Settings > General > About > Version. Is it 9A406? If not, try to update to this build and see if your battery improves. 🙂 I'm on iOS 5.0.1 9A406 and my battery is rockin'.

A few days have past since my last post. Battery life seemed to be getting worse by the day.

After a few resets ( settings only ) I noticed that my phone was freezing after I had made a call, not allowing me to use the functions any more.

So today I decided to completly restore the software using itunes.

Software loaded 5.0.1 ( A9406 ) old version on phone was A9405.

Its now 7hrs 30 mins since the restore and I still have 91%

Wi-Fi ( off )

Notifications ( Manually )

Bluetooth ( off )

Mail fetch new data ( off )

Screen brightness ( approx 30% )

The important point to notice that what iPhone website boasts in their page about battery is at least 10 times more than actually we get

Yesterday I enabled the airport mode and slept off. In the morning, I found that 10% battery was consumed overnight (6.5 hours). 9A406 has made some improvement in standby time but it could not solve the core problem

I have tried several diagnostics including changing the carrier, enable/disable location services, turn on/off wifi, airplane mode etc. what I could understand is that it seems not a hardware issue some core application services using the battery all the time. Seems its a bug

On the other hand my friend who's using iPhone 4 with ios 5.0.1 has no battery issues at all. I'm waiting for 5.1 otherwise I have to return this piece

Since doing the recent update to fix the battery issues my Iphone 4S battery is only lasting 5 hours. When i took it into apple they checked it and said the battery was working normally. Whilst sat there with the tech guy with the phone locked with nothing running the battery dropped 3% in as many minutes which shocked him. They swapped the handset out and now its working fine. Is this a dodgy set of batteries ???
