Slow responding Logic Pro 9, but enough cpu left

Hi there!

A really frustrating problem, wich i don't seem to get fixed.

I am working with:

2x2.26 6GB 1066 Mhz

LION

Logic Pro 9

Apogee DUET soundcard

Axiom Pro midi Keyboard

All is updated with the newest update

When i work on a project, with almost 85% CPU left, my projects in Logic Pro becomes really slow and doesnt seem to respond to anything.

If i play the project and hit the space again to stop it, the song continues to play. If i wait 10 seconds, its stops.

If i play the project and take my mouse and turn on a knob of a plugin, it responds really late o not at all. If i press space to stop the project, no respons, if i press stop on my midi keyboard the project does stop. After this all actions made before, are made at the moment the project stopped.

Notice: If i press the stop button on my midi keyboard, the tracks seems to stop immediately. Really strange.

Somehow it is only possible to stop the song with my midi keyboard. But even when it does and i start again, the problem stays.Playing the song and making changes at the same time is almost impossible. After a few seconds, the project gets really slow again. Mostly the slow error occurs after 1 minute working in the project.

So there is some strange problem, but what exactly?

I formatted my harddisk, installed LION on it again and reinstalled all my software. Then i created a new project with only 2 plugins and a few effects, still the same problem occurs.

This problem makes producing and a good work flow now nearly impossible.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be, any suggestions are most appreciated!

Thanks!

Ok, at least now you know what to do..

So, is the Axiom available in the controller list?

Try adding it..

However, check the M-Audio site, and make sure you have the latest Axiom driver.

Perhaps it's the Axiom driver/hypercontrol that's not Lion compatible yet.

Thank you for helping out.

it is working now. I have the axiom not working, exept for the keys, the hypercontrol update with i already had installed, doesnt make it work without problems.

It is compatible with 7.1 it says, but i have 7.2 running. Don;t know if it is a big difference between the 2, but guess i have to wait until its 7.2 compatible.

Looking at activity monitor, i notice logic does give a extreem high cpu. Even with the axiom deinstalled.

I get between 60 and 120(?) % cpu when playing. It get above 100% when a build up is coming.

But, i have onlyabout 15 channels running with some samples and plugins & effects.

Thnaks again

I found this thread because I was having the exact same problem, except that I'm using a different MIDI Controller (Behringer UMX61...don't laugh! 🙂).

Removing the file "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs" fixed the problem for me, as well. AND, my controller was stilll working fine after I restarted Logic.

Thank you for the solution to a very frustrating problem!

Unfortunately still having the same problem... well less, but still.

I removed the axiompro (really miss the hypercontrol function so want to reinstall again) but my mac is still getting this slow respons error after working in the project for a few minutes. Restarting logic pro helps, but after a few minutes it starts again..

Thinking of reinstalling leopard again..... another 2 fullday work...

I was also having this problem, I use Euphonix controllers and Novation Nocturn, Sinse mountain Lion update, Logic was completly unusable, hanging on everything.

THIS WORKED PERFECTLY, thank the lord for the helpful users on this froum. Apple sould be ashamed of themselves. I don't get this much trouble with any of my other DAW's, but Logic is still my fav.
