iCal duplicates

Sorry, I've looked at lots of "duplicate" threads but not been able to solve my problem ... I have an iMac an iPhone and an iPad 2 and sextuplicate events on all 3 devices. I don't use iCloud (well I'm pretty sure I've turned it off on all devices ?

John, I've found the origin of the problem... I guess.

On my Mac, Address Book, I don't know why, has duplicated contact (from "local" and from "iCloud"), so in iCal I have duplicated entries.

I've deleted the "local" contact, leaving only the "iCloud" contact (as it was supposed to be in the first place).

Thank you for your help.

Now I've to found why there wasn't only one address database (iCloud)...

Have you found a solution to your duplicating iCal entries? I had this problem about 6 mos ago and thought it was solved (Apple tech) but entered a new event in iCal recently and now have a reminder pop up about once an hour for the event that was a week ago. Can't get rid of it. There are usually 3 or 4 of the same event in each reminder - I delete it and it returns each time with more.

Any solution or should I get back to Applecare again? They were pretty stumped last time this happened and there was no clear fix.

Hi John

As un update i have an answer to my question. Patience.

All i had to do was wait for your program to parse through the duplicates. I had 177,000 entries and 167,000 duplicates more or less. The Program took 12 hours, more or less to parse the program, to get the calendar data and another 3 hours to dedupe the calendar.

As of now i'm deduping it again as there are some more duplicates.

Hi John,

I do hope you get to see this!! I am having a heck of a time with Dupe Deleter!! I, like sandbites, have thousands of duplicates!! I know this because I had tried another "fix" I saw a thread on. It had me go to FIND/ADVANCE FIND and enter specifics for what I was looking for, I used "Entourage", which was one of my calenders. It seems when I unchecked that, the duplicates went away...however, some were under "no catagory". I needed to keep "no catagory" because when my husband sends me an invite to an appointment, it automatically goes into that calendar catagory. (If I could find a way to direct ALL his invites into a different catagory, I would and this would all go away like a bad dream)

First let me say that this problem started a few weeks ago with an update from apple.

I was finally able to allow DupeDeleter to open on my MacBook Pro (google is my best friend) and I started it yesterday and it seems to be running. As a matter of fact it's been running for almost TWENTY hours!!! I know I have thousands of duplicates, over 8000…but just how long should this be running??? If I click on the blue "test selected calendar" bar, I see a flash of "collecting items from iCal". No calendar is there…yet.

Do I just continue to let it run? Should I stop it and change something? I do have my iCal closed, no synching or iCloud on. I do have an iPhone and an iPad, also not synching.

Can you guide me with this??
