Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.

The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."

The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

have ur tried looking in side ur car its self and the ipod is a small device it might have fallen down the side of the car seat

it works my 7year old son lost his ipod on monday 9th jan 2012 he only got on on the 8th jan 2012 and had not yet set up the mobile me or download find my ifone app we could not find it any where in my house i used the site paid the fee entered the ipod sn number and wi-fi ads as i had a copy of all info and they sent a me a email saying the ipod was near to my ads where i live and a link to the map of where the device was looking at the map it was showing it was at or near my house so i went on to my computer as router stores a list of all devices linked to it and shows whats linked to it my sons ipod was linked so we checked the car and down the side of the car seat i found his ipod so the site can help find ur ipod but its costs $5 £3-£5uk and the device needs to be reported to apple as lost or stolen
