I recently installed Lion and now my Power PC applications are not supported. what are my options to get Quicken 2007 to run?

I recently installed Lion, and now find that all my PowerPC applications are not supported. I have Quicken with all my financial data and need to do my income tax. What do I do?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Look into "iQIF" for iOS. Unlike Pocket Quicken it's strictly a data entry application. However, you can prime it with the names of all your accounts, all your previous payees, and your classes. You then use it to enter transactions. Once you've entered a batch of transactions, you can email yourself a QIF file, which you can import into desktop Quicken.

I also switched to new imac with Mountain Lion. I was informed I could transfer my Quicken 2007 and other data from old G5 which ran on Leopard 10.5 via Time Machine and external hard drive. After transfer the $ icon has a slash and gets error message that application not supported by Power PC etc. I did upgrade to new Quicken 2007 which runs but I can"t transfer any data because of disabling of quicken. When I take external drive to y old computer it looks like the info has been deleted. Is there a work around for this?

What you tried should have worked. Details, please:

After transfer the $ icon has a slash and gets error message that application not supported by Power PC etc.

Presumably this was before you downloaded and installed the updated version of Quicken 2007. Correct?

I did upgrade to new Quicken 2007 which runs but I can"t transfer any data because of disabling of quicken.

What do you mean by "disabling of quicken"? If you have the latest Quicken (the one that runs under Lion and Mountain Lion) and you have the data file containing your Quicken data, have you tried to tell Quicken to open that file?

When I take external drive to y old computer it looks like the info has been deleted.

Please describe what you see that makes you think this.

Do you have access to your Quicken data file when you do that? You should be able to copy it from the old computer.

when I hook it up to new computer the old files are there but Quicken has slash through it.

Please stop trying to run the old Quicken on your new computer. It will never work and trying to only wastes your time and the time of people trying to help you.

As I mention above, what you need to do is to copy the Quicken DATA FILE (not program) from your old computer to the new one, perhaps placing it in the Documents folder of your account on the new computer. Then when you launch the new version of Quicken on the new computer, you should be able to invoke File > Open File and point it to the Quicken data file you copied from the old computer. As an alternative, you should be able to drag the Quicken data file onto the icon of the new version of the Quicken program to get it to open your data.
