iPhone Autoplay doesn't start automatically

Under Device manager/Properties i received this message.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration inofrmation (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)

Update the MTP driver.

I downloaded the latest win7 MTP driver from:

and then followed the instructions here:

Using a 64-bit computer I could not get AutoPlay to work with the suggestions above (reinstalling the driver, uninstall/reinstalling every Apple related program/Windows AutoPlay repair). However I did find a manual workaround via the links below:

Windows 7: Choose Start > Computer. Under Portable Devices, right-click the device and choose Import Photos.

Thank you. I tried it this way in Windows 10 and it worked great.

For me somehow, I can either get it to use autorun, or use for itunes. I can't have both. I uninstall drivers from one to the other just to find out I can only have 1. Either use it for itunes, or for autorun. This is soooo stoooopid!!!

I'm experiencing the same issue. Recently, autoplay dialog stopped showing up when I plug in my iPhone 5 on my Windows 7 x64 desktop. iTunes still sync everything fine, it's just that autoplay won't appear and as such Dropbox won't import any of my photos and videos.

I tried on my Surface 3 running Windows 8.1 x64 and autoplay worked, Dropbox can import photos and videos just fine.

Any idea of how to fix this issue? I tried using a different cable, changing ports, nothing works.

I am sadly using vista, but that dosen't stop my iphone 4s from being able to download my videos from my phone to my computer, but i used a different iphone 4s, that works better then my iphone 4s to record a video. for some reason the auto play feature only works on my iphone, not on the other one. and it wont show up in the computer.

i want to be able to have it on my computer, but i cant send it to any social media accounts because it either wont let me, or it will say that the video is too long.

if anyone can help me, or tell me how to enable this setting, or whatever i have to do that would be cool and stuff.

I'm using an iPhone 6 now, and the problem still persists. Strangely, my Surface 3 worked just fine; Dropbox can import photos and videos, but not on my desktop.

Thank you so much!! This was the best help. I've been trying to figure it out for five days and as soon as I uninstalled and the icon disappeared, I plugged my phone in and it worked just like you said. You saved me from losing all my pics. Thanks!!!!

Thanks. I tried everything for months. Then I read this thread. Uninstalled all programs that had been put on my machine since the problem began, and voila! Fixed. Autoplay is back. Many thanks!
