iPhone Autoplay doesn't start automatically

When I plug my iPhone 4s up to my Windows 7 64bit PC It is detected by the PC and iTunes, but it does not start AutoPlay. I have checked all the basics, making sure autoplay is set to "ask me everytime" the device is plugged up. yet it does not do this. I have reset to defaults on the phone as well as on my PC. AutoPlay still does not come up. This is mainlty an inconvience but still, it SHOULD just work and it doesnt. So any suggestions besides what I've already tried would be awesome. Thanks for your time. 🙂

I have the same issue. On my new computer (Windows 7 64 bit), my phone shows up in Device Manager under Portable Devices. It is also listed in My Computer as a Portable Device. It is not listed in AutoPlay at all so I can't have Picasa automatically open when I connect my phone. It's an inconvenience, but I can work around it.

On my old computer (Windows Vista), my phone showed up in Device Manager under Portable Devices, in My Computer as a Portable Device and in AutoPlay as a Device. I chose to have it import my pictures using Picasa.

Thanks for the suggestion, but after reinstalling the driver, my phone is still not listed in AutoPlay. It is listed as a Portable Device in My Computer.

I have tried plugging my phone into another Windows 7 PC and AutoPlay popped up, so I know it's possible in Windows 7. It just isn't working with my home computer.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue and still cannot figure out why it's behaving like this. It suddenly started not to open AutoPlay upon plugging-in my iPhone... Microsoft AutoPlay Repair, unfortunately, does not help even on Win 32... I'm sure it depends on some messed-up settings in Win 7 and not on my iPhone itself, as AutoPlay works perfectly on another Win 7 machine.

I also had this problem. I tried everything, starting from changing autoplay settings to uninstall apple iphone driver in device manger. Nothing worked. Then I started un-installing every programme I have installed since the problem begun. Able to get back the autoplay settings after removing a great deal of programs. I don't konw which one it was but I hope this helps.

I am going to presume you are trying to access the photos and/or videos you've taken with your device. In this case, you don't need Autoplay.

After your iPxx device is connected to your PC, simply click on the Computer Desktop icon. Your device should appear in the "Portable Device" list. Double-click it, then drill down thru the folders until you reach your photos and videos. You can now view, copy, and paste them just like any other file in Windows.
