I still cannot get my audiobooks to show up (new iPhone 5). I go to the books section of itunes, scroll down to audiobooks, make sure that I have not only checked the books I want but also the individual files (like if the book comes in 3 downloads - audible.com style - I check all three parts. Then I hit sync and nothing happens. There is a lightning quick blip in the dowmloading window and then all is still..... It feels to me like a deliberate effort on Apple's part to block audible.com. I have no problem at all with the audiobooks on my old iPod touch. They show up in itunes as an 'audiobooks' button

Thomas, thanks for replying. No! Audiobooks does not show up under 'more' (I assume that is what you mean by 'other' since it is the option in the bottom right of the screen - the itunes menu bar. What shows up whenb I chose 'more' is Compilations, Composers, and Genres. That's it.

The audiobooks I am trying to Sync are all from Audible.com (an Amazon company.....)

Aaaand, that was in my music app. If I do the same thing in itunes I DO get "Audiobooks" when I tap on "More" HOWEVER it is not the audiobooks stored on my laptop itunes but the itunes store. They want me to buy audiobooks, not listen to the ones I have purchased from someone else. Sigh!

I cannot seem to get the books on my laptop itunes onto my iphone itunes or music. I do all the right things on the laptop when my iphone is connected but the transfer just does not seem to happen when I push 'sync' or 'done.'

I just solved this in another way by accident. I tried to play the book i had bought by copying and pasting it to my desktop then double clicking. A little dialogue box came up to say that my computer wasn't authorised to play it and that I had to authorise it. Just typed in my password and then as soon as I did not only did it start playing but immediately started to sync to my ipod.

Had spent hours trying all the other methods above!

If you're using Audible audiobooks, you should be using the Audible app to play them. According to Audible's device page (http://www.audible.com/dc) Audible audiobooks play just fine on Apple products, but I doubt iTunes plays .aa format.

The reason "Audiobooks" isn't showing up in your iOS iTunes is that no audiobooks are present...when you sync compatible audiobooks to your device, "Audiobooks" will show up in the "more" section.

Thanks Magnus! I found the problem. Seems I needed to restart my iphone (5) before it would sync my audioboks. It syncs with most everything else on my laptop itunes but for some reason it wouldn't dwnload or recognize audiobooks until I restarted. Seems it has to do this everytime too (only for the audioboks) Then they DO showup in my itunes app on the iphone. Problem solved thanks

I was having the same problem but couldn't believe it was as simple as restarting. and it wasn't. Turns out when you connect the iphone you get a little icon on the right side of the screen of the iphone, the word 'iPhone' and the eject icon. You need to click on the image of the phone or the word 'iphone', not the eject icon. when you do,, the old fashioned 'summary' will appear like it used to on older versions of itunes, with headings including info, apps, tones, music, movies, tv shows etc. Just click on the 'books' heading and you'll have a choice to sync both books and audio books, either all or selected ones which you click. THen go to devices-sync in the file menu as before and it will work. Good luck!

I similarly had tried EVERYTHING listed... drag and drop when manually managing my iTunes, Syncing checked audiobooks... nothing worked. Until I followed your advice and 'authorised' the computer to play the audiobook through the desktop. Then simply dragged and dropped it onto my iPhone and hey presto it loaded up fine and I now have the Audiobooks heading under 'more' on my iPhone screen.

This has been asource of great frustration to me in the past- I had taken to only using Audible for Audiobooks, but now can use iBooks also. The first time this happenned I ended up buying the Audiobook a second time through my iPhone so I could get it on there!

Thanks again. Small victories 🙂
