Having a problem with Geo Sans Light

I have a deep and abiding affection for the Geo Sans Light font. However, I'm having a strange problem using it in Apple Pages. Any time I have tabs followed by certain forms of punctuation, Pages automatically puts in strange hash marks. It's hard to explain, so I'm going to put a photo clip in here:

See those marks to the left? I can't get rid of them. Through experimentation I've determined that they only appear when there are quotation marks in the text to the right. If I remove the quotation marks from that text, the tab marks disappear.

I'm looking for any help that I can get. I want to get rid of those marks. They're screwing up the aesthetics of my syllabi.

Thanks

Andrew

Pages has clearly a problem with these fonts.

At top it's used in TextEdit with no problem.

At bottom it's used in Pages.

The problem strike in line #2.

In line #1 I applied a workaround.

I selected the two tab characters and applied the font Lucida Grande.

So, now you know a way to get rid of the problem 😉

Now it's too late for me (French time).

Tomorrow I will file a bug report.

One question that arises is "Why are you using multiple tabs to format the page?" "The Mac," as Robin Williams put it in the title of one of her books, "is not a typewriter."

Avoid the problem by setting a style that changes the left margin stop setting for these paragraphs. (I've set them manually here.)

Not Geo Sans, by the way. That font isn't installed on this old iBook.

Hi Barry

Geo Sans is no more installed by Apple on recent machines.

It's a free font available from several web pages :

http://www.dafont.com/geo-sans-light.font

http://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Geosans.htm

http://www.photo-creation.com/police/police-sans-serif/police-2016.html

I really like the last one 😉
